What a fun place. Met Robert for the first time recently and he is someone who really likes to show you what he has. His coins are great prices. Sure they have the basic gimmick stuff for the average punter, but Robert has some real pro stuff to sell and will gladley demonstate for you.

Tricks Magic Shop has a great range of magic, both for professionals and amateur magicians alike. The owner is very knowledgeable and willing to teach any tricks that he sells. He demonstrates any tricks before sale and showed me many tricks. A fantastic shop where you can see what you are getting and the quality of the magic, unlike magic bought over the net. They also have a great range of gags, novelties and dressup. The owner also will organise a childrens magic party on site for you.

A large shop in the heart of Auckland over 200sq metres with a great selection. Well worth a visit.

Okay so my first review of this was all just amazement of going to a real magic shop for the first time. After a few more Visits I can give more detail. The owners are nice and helpful but I feel they stock the wrong things, well they stock what requires them to survive, the simple stuff to sell the general public... the self working colorful prop stuff, although they need to sell that I still think a better range for the magicians too will help, I mean the magicians will spend money on quality stuff. Okay it's great for getting refills like rope, TT's and other props and gimmicks which is good. They do occasionally have some good stage props turn up but not many that aren't the colorful usual magic shop prop. Robert is a nice guy and tries his best to help you but doesn't have a lot of selection to work with and what is sort of off putting is that most of things aren't the official brand, usually the knock off versions, although with that being said he does have something for everyone. I could easily spend a decent amount of money in there coming out with quality magic, would just like to see more books and DVDs there. do pop in and see what you can find... you never know they always have something different each time, they might have what you are looking for!

The one an only magic shop in New Zealand. I've been visiting this shop quite a few times, and have realized a few faults. The shop itself is really welcoming, and Robert is a lovely guy, and helps out a lot. But the downfall is stock quality. Obviously they sell the flashy stuff to keep the business running, and sell to beginner magicians or laymen. But I think they should have a larger emphasis on pleasing the professional magicians (and the younger kids who are actually in to the hobby and could do with some decent material). Like Mike said, i'd like to see more books and DVDs. But go in and look around, they do have a lot of nice stuff.
