When you think of Ellusionist, you think of hype.
Customer service is fine, I have heard some people having peoblems but not me...
Website is very user friendly and so are all the options. Delivery is as fine as it can get.
The selection in some cases is bull. But it really is very useful in some other cases.
Prices are sometimes off the roof!! The 'Frixion' pen is sold for over

It's easy to fall into the "hype" of the whole "street magic" thing.. especially these young kids who want the latest "street effect" but we all know it's just rubbish advertising.
the selection they have is limited to "E" products only
the customer service is okay, but i know they have had many problems in the past with wrong orders and not having any communication.

Since 2004 I have place well over 30 orders with Ellusionist. I'm a bit perplexed about why some people here have had a offbeat experiences with them.
Their customers service has always been top notch. Yes, a few of my orders have been wrong, however they are very fast about fixing the problem as no charge. I have never had a bad experience when a gimmick was faulty, or a deck was bent. Those issues are far and few between, however they are resolved in very quick order.
Their prices have dropped on a multitude of decks and DVD's over the years. I'm guessing to keep up with everyone. I would have rated them a 4 for price, however with the drop in prices and the rewards system that they implemented, my dollar has the most value there.
I did give a 4 for selection because they are not the WalMart of magic, nor do I want them to be. The selection they do have is is extremely strong magic and is everything I'll ever use in my performance
Decks. Ellusionist is undoubtedly the source for playing cards. There are alot of others out there, but the E deck just seem to have a workable angle to them. Can't put my finger on it. many of the decks out there are just over-designed that they don't seem to play well in my performances. But the E decks accentuate my style, so it's a solid fit.
Shipping is a bit high for UPS, but in doing my research before I complained, i noticed that they are far under published rates and comparable with every other shop out there, so I guess that is good. Their US Postal options are way cheap.
They do play the hype card often, but who doesn't? I never see anything different between E and what Axe body spray does. Actually I find it pretty energetic and entertaining.
Again, I've always loved, E. great folks over there that care about your magic. I'll remain a customer as long as I'm doing magic and recommended them on every level.

Prices here are about average, though shipping is a bit higher.
My biggest complaint - the last time I had an order with Ellusionist, I ordered several decks of cards along with some other product. A day or two after the order, I received an email saying that the cards were out of stock, so they removed them from the order and shipped the other items.
My issue was two-fold: first, if they were out of a particular item, why was I able to add it to my order? Second, why was I not contacted before someone decided to remove an item from my order, so I - you know, the customer - could decide if I wanted to remove the item? (Amazon.com, and most other e-commerce sites do this, so it's nothing new.)
After an email back-and-forth, I was told that they had moved warehouses, presumably the cause of what happened. They made an offer to send replacement cards (blue backs for the original red) and not charge shipping, which I declined, saying that was the offer that they should have made in the first place.
What ensured that I would never again buy anything from Ellusionist was that a few days after all this, I went back to the site and saw the deck that was no longer in stock still advertised as available. During the email exchange, I had gone to great length to ask them to remove the deck, and this was not done.
In all, a bad customer service experience. Many more (and better) places to buy magic online.

Upon first visit to the site its clear to see why they are so popular, Brad Christian has mastered the art of magic marketing even if its overhyped a lot of the time. They offer a wide range of products for nearly every skill level.
I went there with a specific purchase in mind, so I wasn't drawn into hype. As far as the price went, for this particular item the price was the lowest on the internet I had found. I would recommend this store for anyone who has a specific purchase in mind, but be certain to do some research before you visit as not to get sucked into the hype.

This store is great i there is something specifically from them you want. Their cards are nice, and their products are fine (besides for the brad Christensen stuff), and their shipping is alright. Their shipping is too expensive, and some of their tricks are overpriced. Their forum community is made up of Angel-Following-emo-beginner magicians who will quit in a month or two, so do not go their for advice. Their blog is great for magic news and other info (i highly recommend looking at this blog!). They do have a great line of exclusives (their Wayne Houchin collection and Sick by Ponta the Smith), even if they are overpriced. All of these would make a good site, but the thing that has me actually recommending this to you is the gaff and trick cards. There is an extremely large library of card gaffs and such. Hope this helped!

I would not recommend this site over another, such as penguin or MJM. The prices here are quite high compared to some other sites, and I think they hype a lot of their tricks.
E is well known for its selection of custom designed decks and gaffed decks.

Shipping is too expensive but their products are reasonably priced. They have a good range of selection. They sell a good range of dvd's and they are all designed for street magic, They also sell a goos selection of books and they have great playing cards. They over hype a few things but they are priced well enough so you shouldn't get disappointed.

Most products that they tend to push are based on there growing range of custom decks. These decks are really cool, but the dark and mysterious themes can lead to suspicion about whether or not they are trick decks. Many of the different decks come in different forms (invisible, rising card, stripper, svengali, gaff) and these are also quality purchases.
Another claim to fame is their DVD selection, which includes material taught by many respected magicians. If you are looking for street magic DVDs, this is a great place to look. Some DVDs revolve around a single apparatus (usually included), while others are focused on sleight instruction.
A big plus to this company is their customer service. I can attest to that first-hand. I purchased an M5 and a kit full of shimmed material. One of the items was a steel-core quarter. When I tried to use it, I realized that it was not working. I exchanged a few e-mails with customer service and a new quarter was in my hands the next week at no expense to me.
One major criticism of the company is their prices. Their gear tends to be a bit more expensive than on other sites. One reason for this may be their dedicated forums, which are locked until you purchase through them and get the access code. Unfortunately, the ones that I used were not very popular and were not that helpful. Another issue is their hype. New products get so much hype from the site that once it is in your hands there is a bit of disappointment.
Nonetheless, this is a great site. They sell durable products and stand behind them 100%. A wise magician will do some research before buying an effect and would probably wait until some unbiased reviews of a new product roll in before biting the hook.
