Karl Fulves, one of the most renowned modern writers in the field of magic, presents here 67 new and foolproof tricks-spectacular mental feats that seem impossible, but are easy to perform.

None of the tricks require long practice, supernormal dexterity, or complicated apparatus. Mr. Fulves' precise, easy-to-follow instructions and many helpful diagrams lead to quick mastey and effective performance of each. Perform mystifying mental magic in such categories as:

  • Instant ESP
  • Mind Reading with Cards
  • Mind Over Matter
  • Book Tests
  • Psychic Secrets
  • Slate Sorcery
  • Miracles with Cards
  • Psychometry

Many of these tricks can be done with no prior preparation, and all involve easy-to-find materials: a deck of cards, coins, matches, dice, keys, chalk, etc. But while the materials used are ordinary, the effects achieved are truly extraordinary.

This is a great book to have in any magician’s tool books. It covers many areas of Mentalism. It is clearly written and can be easily understood. If you do not have lots of money to invest then this is one of the things you should invest in. most of the tricks require minimal set up, ordinary props or borrowed objects. As a street performer, these are essential for me. When people see me and I have no props with me, I can still do some astonishing effects. I have even used some of the effects in this book to perform Mentalism through my Twitter account to my Twitter followers. I not only have this book but several others in the series and plan to review them all.

Well I'm no mentalist but this book is pretty cool, like all Dover books its the essentials, its something that if your starting off or middle sorta level in the subject the book is on then its kind of a must have and again like all the Dover books it comes at a great price! First off the effects give me inspiration for creating my own style to them, I wouldn't perform half the effects in this book but I sure did find enough to get more value from what I paid for it, even if I got one good effect I would be happy. I got about 5 all up that I will use, some more regularly then the rest and there are a few that i might use in there for one off situations and I'm sure when my style changes and later on if i look back at the book I'll find some more effects I'll use. The teaching is detailed the only thing I was not a fan of was the explanations of the effects as some are a little far fetched but still there is something for everyone in there. I was surprised to see the card mentalism effects were pretty cool. Some very good impromptu (most are) effects in there that once learnt you'll be ready to go. Each effect has pretty much a different principal so you learn the basics from each and maybe take them to the next level, strip them down and rebuild them so for anyone looking for some cool impromptu material or looking to get into mentalism this is a pretty good book for the price!
